There is a garage sale here tomorrow, Saturday, and this room full of boxes HAS to be cleared out and the stuff packed away. It has been out since last March, and as I have walked by it hundreds of times, I have been in a TOTAL state of denial.
Time is up!!!!

Overwhelmed
Rest Area, with Holden Vance III as Chuck Tyler

Rest Area staring Holden Vance III,
circa 1979, the Middle of Nowhere, USA
Immersion Artist, Conceptual Art Photographer, Method Actor and Critic Holden Vance III becomes a Middle American playboy lomg haul truck driver named Chuck Tyler.
Set in the late 70's before the onset of AIDS when our cultural nievity still exhisted. Chuck is layed back and totally dependable. He's always there ahead of time even when his libido veres him of course.
On this particularlly hot and muggy summer evening. After a nice long ride Chuck finds a quite moment to reflect on his seemingly trivial existence. When he wakes to begin his journey he'll get way more than he ever expected in this contemporary melting pot found along the higways he drives. A place he affectionately knows as the Rest Area.

The very purpose of spirituality is self-discipline. Rather than criticizing others, we should evaluate and criticize ourselves. Ask yourself, what am I doing about my anger, my attachment, my pride, my jealousy? These are the things we should check in our day to day lives. -Dalai Lama - 5:40 AM - Public
David S Pollack aka Chase Alias hopes to bring to light with his new series, "Chase Alias' Esoterically Speaking Causes his Reclusively Being, 2010-2012", attempts to convey just how backwards moving our cultural standards seem feels to Chase. As a self portrait photographer he look back in envy at the freedoms which artists used to be able to express themselves without having to worry about cultural and even legal action being taken against them.

Love Note

60mm Micro
A love note to my wife.
I was listening to the song "Home" by Michael Buble. (Our unofficial theme song, since I average about 150 nights a year on the road.) The verse below sparked an idea.
"And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you
Each one a line or two
“I’m fine baby, how are you?”
Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough
My words were cold and flat
And you deserve more than that"
This image was created in about 5 minutes. I had the idea, jotted down a quick note to my wife and placed it on top of an ironing board next to the window. Light coming through the sheer curtains of the hotel. I had a D60 and 60 micro with me and made the image. BTW... this is a color image.

Basic Information
About Marina | Professional exhibiting Artist. Senior Art Curator and Art Buyer at AmericanFlat NYC… but of course this is just a summary of things… if I start explaining this whole “About Me” thing, I will end up writing a volume similar to “War and Peace”… so let me try to be relatively brief here :)(: I am an artist. I am a model. I am an art curator. I am a Gallerist. I am an ad exec (former). I love this old-fashioned thing called reading and I have no television at home (it was officially unplugged 7 years ago). I am a nerd. I love Psychology and the amazing mystery called “being human”. I will short-circuit anything electric/ electronic within my reach in a matter of hours (so people please keep your fancy Macs away from me). I am NOT perfect (I have quite a few flaws that I am aware of, but please know that I always have the best intentions at heart). Despite the things that happen in life I feel very optimistic about the future. I have a tremendous dislike for “gloom and doom” thinking, and quite frankly, I find it distasteful, vulgar and an insult to humanity… speaking of which (an insult to humanity that is), I really think that “Five Finger” shoes should be banned and The Rolling Stones should stop touring (enough already!). I am a great believer in Karma, and what goes around usually comes back around within our lifetime. I believe there is a reason why we meet all the people that we meet in our lives. I have not a single malicious bone in my body and the whole idea of people wishing somebody bad truly puzzles me as something completely inhumane (a deformity of soul if you wish). I believe that every relationship is based on Respect and Boundaries (and trust me I will never cross your boundaries unless “I’m invited” and I will never walk around telling people what to do either… they got their own heads on their shoulders… hopefully??...) I am a total commitment phobe, so yes, you have to convince me that it’s ok and that things are better together… (hmm… are they?... yikes!) I adore cats and respect dogs. Airplanes and the idea of flying makes me depressed as a necessary and an inevitable form of torture/evil that we humans instill upon each other... I like to talk and simply being among people energizes me, but I also do like my alone moments very much. I am hyper sensitive to light, sound and smells… I am many things… and then when everything is said and done, I am NOT what you think I am :)(: |
